And then on top of all of that, they enslaved African peoples for CENTURIES. African people have been in bondage in the White Supremacist United States more than it has been free. White Supremacy encompasses much more than slavery, as some people think, it is a system that believes the white person (white is a made-up term, btw) is king, supreme ruler, and has supreme ownership over all non-white ideas, thoughts, and behaviors in White Supremacist rule.

It is about control. And it is about selective amnesia, and it is about revisionism because most white people DO NOT WANT to ever deal with the totality of the system of white supremacy that they have benefited nor do they want to deal with how it has affected "black people" and how white supremacy has shaped how they view and interact with other people.

The issue is simple, they were NEVER ABLE to silence African people completely, they underestimated their power, their resiliency, and their ability to FIGHT BACK against all odds. They underestimated how much non-white people would shape their communities, shape cultures, how much they helped define cool, how much they have shaped music, dance, art in THEIR SYSTEM.

The System of White Supremacy hates to see Americans of African ancestry operating outside of their construct. How often do you see white people trying to "figure out" what black people do? How they think? And how often do you see white people trying to tell you "about yourself"? It is because they feel entitled to know what every other "non-white" person is doing in their system, that is how they have been covertly indoctrinated, even if they don't want to see it. They are SCARED because they know the violence and hatred that shaped the American of African ancestry and they are IN FEAR of how we will truly revolt and give them their own treatment back.

Now, I will say that not every white person is guilty of this, but as I have said before and I will say again, all white people are racist suspects until proven otherwise because they have been indoctrinated by the System of White Supremacy. I have had too many honest conversations with seemingly "liberal" white people who truly believe that "black people" are inferior intellectually and do not work as hard as they do, and feel like in any competition be it job, school, etc that they should come out on top. It BLOWS THEIR MIND whenever it happens and they try to justify it any way they can.

My point is that anyone that has been a victim of the indoctrination of White Supremacy will have a problem with anything "black related" simply because we are their slave class in their system, the fact that we walk, live, eat, drink, and go on about our lives on the equal footing as them blows their mind. They have to validate it, obsess over it, find a way to attack it because it goes against their system.

Honestly, I am over the System of White Supremacy it will never define me. However, I know the game and I call it out whenever possible.

I favored public trials in an INTERNATIONAL COURT for both bin Laden and Saddam. Saddam was disposed of by an Iraqi government that was largely a client state of the USA. And Osams was disposed of by the Seals. Now an international rrial not under the authority of the USA or her client states, might have revealed a lot more than the ruling classes of the USA wanted the public to know. Not only the crimes of those two scoundrels, but their relations with America, the West and Russia. What were the relations of the USA, and the CIA, before while these rascals were still seen as useful (or a "moderatingt influence in the Middle East" as one Regan official described Saddam)?

You have Romney confused with Obama.
Romney is different. He has class and integrity! You don't acknowledge that at least some of the Blacks in the NAACP admire those qualities in a man. You are a Racist.
Oh I've got the right man even though I don't know if the rumors are true. i don't know if he did in fact bring with hima little troupe of Black consevatives as cheerleaders.
And class? The only class Romney has is CLASS PRIVILEGE, the privilege of the 1%. The class privilege to outsource jobs, deprive people of their benefits, of the fruits of their labor.
That's the CLASS that Romney has.
Moreover, you have revealed yourself to be a MORON for calling me, the antiracist Savant, a racist.
A racist is someone engaged in racially oppressing others and/or who his "race" (itself an historical social fiction) is superior to other races, or more entitled to be regarded and treated as human.
Most REAL racists will be voting for Romney. You, no doubt, will be among those bigoted fools.

This is what I wrote: "President Downgrade flapped his purple lips and the DOW dropped below 11,000...AS HE SPOKE. It's time for him to go. "
I CALLED him President Downgrade because he presided over the first downgrade in US History. I did NOT say he caused the downgrade. There were a lot of reasons for the downgrade and he was only one of them. You can "infer" anything you want. I can also infer that you need to take a remedial reading class.
Logically, this is another way of implying that he CAUSED the downgrade. Otherwise, it is irrelevant that the dwongrade happened during his presidency.
So, my inference is COGENT.(Look up the word). By the way, the agency that issued the dowongrade did so---and stated this for the RECORD---that the downgrade was issued because of several congress persons (all Republicans) threatened to default if they didn't get teh budget concessions that they wanted.
They didn't say that they issue the downgrade becasue of Obama.
Sometimes, you need more than your prejudices and uninformed opinions to intelligently assess what is happening in society.
Try being better informed and exercising thinking faculties for a change.

Are you afraid of bm...afraid that they will actually get their shit together...that is the bm who do fit your little onesided, biased and negative generalizations about us!

Because in reality...intelligent and sane individuals actually realize that not all bm fit your little scenario!

But then not everyone needs to believe and assert that bm in general are self destructing...not you do!

*I'm on vacation for the second week...with my wife and children in a very nice world class destionation...one that is top notch in everyway!

And let me tell you...there are other bm here...some single, some dating and some married with children...with the children that they love and care for...and I have to tell you that contrary to what you want and need to believe...these men are hardly "self destructing"

Now what I want to know is do you honestly believe that bm in general are self destructing....because in reality most bm are not self destructing...not at all...most bm are in fact busy living their lives!

And the idea that they are doing otherwise...is in fact just the idea that you as a white guy have in your mind!

“Of all the stereotypes about blacks the Sapphire stereotype seems to be the truest in my experience. However none of the women I have come across were over-the-top like New York.”
that’s a strange way to think about stereotypes. It’s like saying the truest lie. Stereotypes, racial stereotypes to be specific, have no merit whatsoever. Do you find merit in any of the stereotypes about black men? or is it just the one’s about black women you find to be so true? The statement came off as pretty sexist. Imagine a white person saying, “The stereotypes about black people seem to be the truest in my experience.”
The Sapphire stereotype seems to be apart of the bigger stereotype of the angry, militant black person.
The thing about these stereotypes, is that they give the impression that black people and specifically black women aren’t allowed to be angry. It’s the impression that people don’t see the humanity in black people so when we express our emotions, our feelings, they can write it off as a black thing or a black woman thing. Other people don’t get labeled with these stereotypes because they’re seen as human beings with legitimate feelings.
Most black women I know don’t walk around angry all of the time, but we should have the right to get angry just like everyone else in the world. These stereotypes are being used as devices to control people, to dismiss people’s very appropriate reactions to injustice. No one fits a stereotype, but we can usually find a stereotype to fit a person when it suits our purpose.

Great comment. This is exactly what bothers me about the Sapphire stereotype and stereotypes in general. The only thing stereotypes end up doing is just pigeon-holing people and taking away from their humanity, consequently allowing for people to see each other as caricatures, instead of complex beings. The thing about it is that white people are the ones who largely created the stereotypes that are out there about black people since they controlled the representations of black people, so for black people to then buy into these stereotypes is silly and detrimental. Earlier today, I was watching a YouTube clip of Queen Latifah hosting an awards show and she was being her usual funny self making people laugh in the audience. And off course there were ignorant, trollish comments about how she was doing her “F__ black women” act. Like really, so because she is having fun, not taking herself seriously, and entertaining people, she fits a stereotype. Black people really can’t win. If it had been a white male telling jokes and acting a fool, they would have just commented that he is either funny or not funny, but they would have been far less likely to stereotype his behavior simply because of his race.

_______

Is it me, or in the last picture she looks different. I mean, you know it’s her and it’s obvious that she looks different since the shows. Still, she appears to be more “gorgeous” for lack of a better word.
Anyway, when it comes to black women, it seems they can’t be human meaning that they can’t get angry or frustrated without someone calling her a “bitter black woman” (in polite conversation). Her negative emotions, temporary as they are, define her to the larger society like the way crime defines black men in society.
It’s crazy because black women are treated poorly in this society. Even black men take part in the dehumanization. Yet, when we see a black woman who is put down, or worse we expect them to act nice and calm and smile! WTF?
Also, if there are bitter black women, there’s no explanation as to why she is. Most of the time, I hear, “That’s why she can’t get a man.” The premise seems to be that the only path to black women’s true happiness is through men.
Another thing I hear is “Oh, she thinks she’s all that.” whenever they see black women with high self-esteems. Granted, I met some who were conceited, but there are others who think highly of themselves and others.

________

Bulanik
@solesearch & introvertedwanderer – your comments are full of excellent insight…the matrix of stereotypes make it nearly impossible for the humanity of individual black women to be seen for what it is.
@brothawolf – I hope black men, more and more, start to see, I mean really see, black women — and with more compassion and recognition of the particular dehumanization that we face.
And yes, in that last picture Ms Pollard looks great…the picture probably gives us a glimpse into the woman who she really is – a thinking person, a feeling person, a mother…so on and so forth.
