AFRICAN-AMERICAN

The swamp that needs to be drained is the United States of America if it can elected a demagogic fascist buffoon like Il Duce Don Trump, and allow its citizens a choice only between the neoliberal opportunism of Democrats and loony neofascism of the Republicans. The immigrants are the LEAST of my worries. More scary are the people who run this country, a treacherous corporate, political plutocracy.  (12 hrs ago | post #299)

Martin Luther King's speech about Vietnam War continues t...

Most people don't have a clue to the importance Personalism, or even Christian Existentialism in King's thought and method. They've probably never even heard of the Social Gospel theology inspired by the Walter Rauschenbusch (e.g. in CHRISTIANITY AND THE SOCIAL CRISIS) by which King was so deeply moved even before he arrived at Boston University. They've a superficial awareness of his nonviolence, but not of its philosophical and theological roots. I've studied under people like Dr. Richard McKinney (who died at age 99 in 2005) who KNEW Benjamin E. Mays (one of King's teachers at Morehouse) and Howard University President Mordecai Johnson, a scholar and devotee of Gandhian thought who King credits for igniting his interest in the thought and writings of Gandhi. McKinney met and conversed with King when he was a student, bright and studious, but whom no one expected to be great or famous. (Mckinney was fond of saying "Who knows? The NEXT King may be one of YOU sitting here in our seminar. Be sure to prepare yourself as you know not when God and History may seize you.").

It has been brought to my attention on line that some of my own writings on Dr. King (as well a s philosophical critical race theory) is being read by students, professors and activists in England, France (Attai has seen some of it), Australia, Canada, Vietnam, Mexico, South Africa, Sweden, Japan, and even Israel and Palestine! (I'm especially happy to know that my work on King has some presence in that troubled Middle East region). Then I visit a place that is supposed to be an African American Forum and white racists who shouldn't be here at all want to discuss King's infidelities or, like the idiot Paul, repeat his tired old refrain that King must have been a "Communist Idiot" to have opposed the Vietnam War. Idiots who read nothing, study nothing and know nothing--who (in B. Russell's words) "would rather DIE than THINK--imagine that I'm supposed to take their pseudo-logic seriously and debate them. Espece d'idiots!!!  (12 hrs ago | post #48)

Trump's lack of moral compass leaves America on its own

Or maybe those Republicans who are caping for GW Bush who inherited an economy in the black, and left behind an economy in the red--an economy that nearly slipped in another Great Depression, and maybe would have without some of the policies enacted during the Obama administration. It may be that Obama, like FDR before him, SAVED capitalism--that system of piracy you love so much. Hell, you should be thanking Obama for saving your beloved system. But you obviously prefer the taste of the pasty behind of another plutocrat and proto-Fascist who may well sink your system---and maybe plunge America into a new war.  (13 hrs ago | post #1523)

Trump's lack of moral compass leaves America on its own

A Jewish guy in Baltimore was arrested with the Bmore Black Panthers during ttheir mass arrests of April 1970 (which led to nearly 44 years imprisonment for Eddie Conway). This Jewish guy who the cops initially thought to be "another one of those bleeding heart white liberals" was handcuffed and beaten along with the Panthers while in police custody. (Eddie Conway's jaw was broken). They didn't have a lot of computerized data in those days, but when they double checked the file they learned that he was JEWISH and a member of the SDS--not just "another white liberal." Whereupon he was taken and give a SECOND beating, this time so back he needed medical treatment. Then he received the worst beating he'd ever gotten in his life. And this is in a "liberal " blue state with a liberal mayor. What would have happened if it were Mississippi or Birmingham, Al.?  (13 hrs ago | post #96)

Sadly, this post by the so-called Patriot represents the general intellectual level of the American right and of a large part of white America in general. Truly sad and tragic. It may mean the ruin of a country that COULD have been great rather being duped by a demagogic buffoon who promises to make her great again  (13 hrs ago | post #95)

The difference is that NONE of them are "black supremacy" groups, but black liberation groups. You wish to cement the supremacy of whites, and these groups all sought/seek to END racism and white supremacy. Moreover, Blacks are OPPRESSED and KNOW it. But most whites are OPPRSSESED (but by class, not race) and DON'T KNOW IT. Moreover, most Blacks understand--as DECADES of research show--that American has an UNJUST Class as well as system of Race--which i why most Blacks are center/left. Whites largely do not have a clue, are duped by their 1% corporate overlords, and have animosity against just about EVERYONE except their REAL oppressors. An elder tells me that when Dr. King visited Baltimore back in 1966 or 67, he explained to assembly of Blacks at some gathering: "The difference between us and our bemused white brethren is not what they think is, and maybe not what many of us think it is. The REAL DIFFERENCE between ourselves and most whites is that we KNOW we're not free, and they think they are." This was leading up to the Poor Peoples Campaign in which Dr. King hoped would spring a movement to awaken the consciousness of the poor and working people (of all races and colors) A throughout America. That task remains to be done.  (13 hrs ago | post #575)

Why were the French ruling Indochina in the first place? IMPERIALISM

Ho Chi Minh approached the U$A wanting to be friends. He was rebuffed due to the anti-"red" hysteria in the U$A. Big mistake.

As a result 65k U$A troops died and up to 3 million Vietnamese.

How brilliant the Yanks are! Massive destruction and misery with NO good result.

And the cause for fighting has been proven wrong: there was no "domino effect". The Vietnamese WON against the savage foreign imperialist invaders, and the other countries in the region did NOT "go Communist" as our lying leaders warned us.

In fact it was the Vietnamese who subsequently overthrew and evicted Pol Pot's regime from Phnom Penh!
