We assembled at the Mitchell Courthouse yesterday to demonstrate our opposition to certain measures being attempted by Baltimore police in the Freddy Gray case. They wanted to have the charges dismissed, and to recuse Marilyn Mosby from prosecuting the case. They also wanted a change of venue from Baltimore. (That's an old tactic. Remove trial to a conservative white county that can be usually counted on to exonerate cops from accountability for all violations of Black citizens). Fortunately, the defense attorney failed in these motions. We want killer cops in cell blocks.

Intersting. One of the most notorious examples of this was the FBI-Police assassination of Chicago Black Panther leader Fred Hampton.

Well I can tell you a few things that have transpired. The attorneys for the cops tried to recuse Marilyn Mosby (prosecutor who brought charges), have the case thrown out, have a change of venue which would have shifted the trial from the multiracial but predominantly AA city of Baltimore, to one of the more conservative white Maryland counties. All three of those efforts FAILED. Hence the case against the cops was not thrown out, Mosby will prosecute, and the trial will happen in Baltimore. Attorneys for the cops did succeed in getting separate trials for the six officers. We got most of what we wanted, but it's not a slam dunk. Even WITHIN Baltimore you can try to cherry pick juries favorable for your case. But it won't be as easy for them as it would have been in some conservative lilly white county where the jury can usually be trusted to rubber stamp whatever the cops do and exonerate them almost as a matter of procedure. So we will see. There's going to be a lot of jockeying back and forth.

A PIG or a FOOL? The Black Panther during the1960s would sometimes say about about some people who did dumb and crazy things that "He's either a PIG or a FOOL." When someone starts a thread like this one, a thread designed to spark quarrels between Blacks of America and Blacks abroad, I know it n the interests EITHER of us Blacks of the USA, or Blacks from other lands. Imperialism degrades and pillages us all. So, why did the person create such thread. Is he or she an AGENT of the enemy (like those police spies and, FBI & CIA who undermined us in the past), or is he or she simply STUPID? What this thread started by a pig or a fool?

The GUARDIAN, a British publication, published some info a couple of months ago which indicated that there may have been more killing of civilians by police in the USA during the previous few weeks as in the UK in the past CENTURY! No wonder some foreigners think America is uncivilized. Oh, as for the necessity of police terror in reply to anti-police violence? I doubt it. A researcher on this made a report on MSNBC this past Sunday in which it was show that as of that time there were 24 American cops killed by civilians, but over 800 people killed by cops. And we can go on and on: Our prison industrial complex, militarization of police, etc. My country may be "exceptional ", but not in the way imagined in our myths of "American exceptionalism ".

Unfortunately, the USA does have proportionately the largest incarcerated population in the world. You can assume that this is simply because these are bad people--which would seem to imply that Americans are a people are worst than other peoples of the earth. Or you can question what kind os society, what kind of social order or system we have developed such that we need to imprison or kill so many of our own citizens. Our country claims to be "number 1." But we must ask "number 1" in what?

Failed history? I don't think he even had a class or heard of the subject. Obama the most racist president in US history? Unlike Andrew Jackson, I suppose, who thought native Americans were beasts, waged genocidal wars against them, and inflicted the horrors of the "Trail of tears". Or Jefferson who held, "as a suspicion only" that "Negroes are inferior to whites in both mental and bodily endowments." Or maybe we can talk about the incarceration of Japanese Americans? The bottom line is that while one can find racism anywhere, in AMERICA racism is PRIMARILY white racism, and it is primarily people of color to suffer from it. But the current fashion among white racists is to claim that it is really the Blacks or other people of color who are racists. Not even Bull Connor or George Wallace had the effrontery to do this. These bigots make me think of Nazis who claim that it is the Jews who are victimizing them.
